Light in the darkness

Help, it's only 5pm

Beeswax dipped mullein torches will be at Vinland Valley holiday market 11/30 & 12/1

"we get this choice. to attempt, to risk, to be willing. as if there were something we might care about. a kind of hope we could carry forward.

perhaps we can re-form the word hope, after all. to mean not a grasping for solidity, a seeking after, but rather a kind of willingness, again and again- sharp edges of beauty blaze everywhere amongst the shatter.

to remain tender, to cultivate joy (luminous in all this dark).

so many tiny slivers of light.

a form of meditation, this way of opening."- Arianne Zwartjes

Wow!

Ok, so I just wanted to do a little temperature check to see how everyone is doing. There is a lot going on in the news, and though this is technically a “business related” newsletter, I am in the business of caring for others and I know there may be some people out there feeling the feels. For those who have no idea what I may be referring to, you may carry on and bypass. For the other 45% of you who are having a tough time with business as usual, I have an article to share from Scientific American to legitimize your grief (not that anyone’s grief ever, ever, ever needs legitimizing). Because “fear breeds distance”, I think it is important to keep the lines of communication in our communities open. We have spent too many years already divided and isolated. Please reach out if you or someone you love need other resources to cope.

Be sure to book ahead on your massage appointments, as my home studio spots are full until mid-December. I have more availability at Mud & Lotus!

Nectar Home Studio : Tuesday/Thursday 12-6pm
(some Saturday’s available by request)

Mud & Lotus : Wednesday 6-9pm , Friday/Sunday 3-9pm
(covering some Saturday’s in December)

If you are short on time, but need to decompress your skull - I recommend my Milk and Honey Masque. It includes a head, neck and arm massage - plus facial cupping and orange blossom aromatherapy to make you feel right with the world.

If you are interested in shopping for the holiday’s, we will be offering small batch items at the Vinland Plantaland November 30th & December 1st, alongside other awesome vendors. Our products are hive inspired, meaning they include products made from the bees such as honey, propolis and beeswax. We won’t have anything available prior to the event. Many of our things take 6 weeks to make/infuse, so we will be working on stuff until the last minute since we decided this a month ago. (Sweating)

What to expect -
Cut comb honey, hand dipped beeswax taper candles, digestive bitters, facial serum, salves, tinctures, Fire Cider, elderberry syrup, soap, and whatever else we come up with!

Astro-Nerds Only Alert-

Ready for an escape, but can’t or don’t want to travel? Consider pulling up your astrocartograpy chart and mapping out what medicine you can bring into your life at home. Locational astrology (astrocartography) is something I got a professional reading on back in 2000 while living in Seattle, and has gained immense popularity. It’s pretty much my favorite thing to obsess over, don’t judge me. There are ways to bring the energy of a place into your life where you are, without having to travel there, although it’s going to be stronger if you are actually in that place of course. I have always done this through books and film, but a few other ways to incorporate locational astrology can be found through this Helena Woods’ podcast episode. You can pull your free astrocartography chart from Astro.com, but do some research beforehand. It’s a fairly complex system to navigate if you don’t have the foundations yet.

Alright, take good care of yourselves and each other. Don’t listen to the pull yourself up from your bootstraps/roll up your sleeves and get to work talk if you’re not ready.

Breathe. Drink water. Rest when possible.
