Spring Cleaning

and still waiting for honey!

It’s a perfect day off. No pressing obligations to fulfill, windows are open, breeze is strong, and I’m sitting here faced with what to tackle first. Though I am an action oriented person who finds fulfillment in crossing things off my list, I also enjoy not being tasked with too much and sometimes am not sure where to start. I realized I haven’t written a newsletter in a minute, so here I am. First task at hand.

I am now a month and a half settled into the new massage studio and it has been pretty wonderful. I love having a clean space to show up to and know that everything is set up just right. My old massage space at the house is once again my office, and my desk is facing the northwest corner, just as I like it. My house is slowly but surely becoming more decluttered, and I am continuing to go through things in the attic. The first module in my death midwifery program was an overview on decluttering your physical space in order to effectively help others do the same. Fast forward 9 years, it appears I need to do a major overhaul again, as these past several years I have lost family members and thereby inherited a lot of stuff. I know and understand why a lot of folks feel comforted by material possessions and having a lot of cool things to look at and use. For me, it’s overwhelming. The main things I want to hold onto are handmade, handwritten, or made from the earth. Otherwise, it feels like a weight. So I need to revisit the concept of Swedish Death Cleaning in order to give myself the green light to let some things go. Although I think my stepkids might initially like going through all our old stuff later in life, they may not want to actually deal with it all in the end. Getting rid of familial objects is emotionally taxing, even if you don’t want them. If you are interested in getting help with this, I’d love to refer you to my friend Chloe. She runs a full schedule of helping people pre and post loss to organize their homes and is an amazing human.

It’s huge!

Private loo included!

There have been a lot of local organizations losing funding this year, one of them being Just Food. If you are free this Saturday, please consider attending The Kids Plant Sale annual fundraiser. They have a lot of funds to make up for the lack of funding this year to help our local families.

May 3rd | 10am-2pm | 3120 Lance Ct.

We are hit and miss at the Farmers Market still, as we don’t have honey quite yet. Hopefully in a couple of weeks!
